This is a really simple method of decarb that will activate the cannabinoids in your bud. You will have some terpene loss but it is very effective and as soon as the bud has been decarbed it can be used to make various forms of medicine.
- Pre-heat your oven to 220-235 degrees F
- Grind your buds up (a coffee grinder is perfect)
- Place on some parchment paper
- Place parchment paper (with ground bud) onto a baking tray
- Put it in the oven for 30-60 minutes
The downside to this method is you will stink your house out, so if that is a problem you may want to try our water method.
You can play around with the times and even take it as far as 60 minutes in the oven. Ideally we would like a little bit of inactivated THCa in our end product so we would suggest 45 minutes.
The 30 minute mark will likely not fully activate all of the cannabinoids and some will remain in their acid form.
There isn’t really a right or wrong Cannabinoid profile that you should be aiming for and it certainly pays to experiment. What matters is finding the right balance for you.
The downside to this method is that some ovens are not very accurate when it comes to temperatures, bear this in mind if yours is quite old or is known to be unreliable. The easy solution is to get a simple oven thermometer and check your oven’s temperatures before taking a gamble with your precious herb.
